Leadership Seneca County: Manufacturing Tour

Leadership Seneca County: Manufacturing Tour
February 20, 2019

The Leadership Seneca County class of 2019 gathered for a session on February 13, 2019. With shuttle services provided by SCAT, the group traveled to POET Biorefining in Fostoria for a presentation and tour lead by Paul LeMaster. The class then visited Mennel Milling in Fostoria where we again split into groups for a tour of the facility. Lunch was provided by a local Fostoria establishment – Hi Scores – before the tour returned to Tiffin. Gary Hossler led a tour of National Machinery before we ended our day at Tiffin Metal Products with a presentation and tour by Kenny Bauman and Tonya Breidenbach. Our February session focused not only on Seneca County industry but also our global footprint. Throughout the tours we were encouraged to asked questions regarding statewide, nationwide, and worldwide outreach for each facility. The group was pleasantly surprised to find that Seneca County isn’t such a small place after all! Many of these local manufacturing facilities export products all over the world and each one continues to strive to stay ahead of the ever-changing world of technology. The day came to an end by discussing our class project, “Year of Service”, in which the LSC team plans to accumulate a minimum total of 200 service hours volunteering for various organizations throughout Seneca County.
