Tiffin University’s Science Club presents its first event

TIFFIN UNIVERSITY, Tiffin, OH— Tiffin University’s Science Club will host its first event featuring Dr. Cameron McCarthy on Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 2 to 3 p.m. in Chisholm Auditorium inside Franks Hall. He will present “Reconstruction of Autophagy Ameliorates Vascular Function and Arterial Stiffening in Hypertension.” The event is open to the public.

 

Tiffin University students and faculty are invited to meet Dr. McCarthy for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. in the Cole Dining Hall.

 

Dr. McCarthy is an AHA Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. A postdoctoral fellow is a person professionally conducting research after the completion of their doctoral studies. At the University of Toledo, he is part of the department of physiology and pharmacology https://www.utoledo.edu/med/depts/physpharm/joe-lab.htmlDr. McCarthy’s research interest is accelerated aging contributing to a deterioration of vascular function.

 

Dr. McCarthy earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Appalachian State University, a master’s degree in health and sport sciences from the University of Tennessee and a doctorate from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. He is affiliated with the American Heart Association (AHA), American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), American Physiological Society (APS), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), University of Toledo Graduate and Postdoctoral Training Task Force and University of Toledo Biomedical Science Program Molecular Medicine admissions committee.
