Leadership Seneca County – November Update

Leadership Seneca County – November Update
November 25, 2019

Leadership Seneca County met at the Seneca County Museum, in Tiffin, Ohio, for their session on Wednesday, November 13th. This month’s topic was centered on the history of Seneca County, and most of the day was spent with traveling across the county for a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt included 6-8 stops throughout Seneca County, some of which were: Webster Industries, Concordance Healthcare, National Machinery, Department of Job and Family Services, and many more. This gave participants the chance to see Seneca County from behind the scenes, and helped to show them what a great community we live in.

Mr. Lee Martin, whose father was a well renowned author in our area, and who had previously worked for Heidelberg University, and National Machinery, gave a presentation on “The Quality of Life in Seneca County.” Mr. Martin had participants take part in an exercise in which they were to rate certain aspects of quality of life based on how they felt Seneca County measured up to the rest of the nation. After groups discussed, and debated on ratings, the final consensus was that Seneca County is a pretty good place to live.

Amy Reinhart, Leadership Seneca County Board Member, and Main Street Manager for Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership, spoke to the class of 2020 as well. She assessed the parking situation in downtown Tiffin, and provided a map of all the public parking in downtown, to the class.  Amy also discussed how downtown is really thriving and developing, and stated that “In the last three months, 43 new businesses have been opened in downtown Tiffin.”

Finally at the end of the session, the class of 2020 had a chance to discuss their class project, and decided on the name “Ready, Set, Go Buckets.” The heads of the committees spoke on their progress and addressed any issues that had arisen since the last meeting.

The class is currently selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a Google Nest Hello Doorbell with Google Hub Chalk ($350 value) for $5.  Do not need to be present to win.  The drawing will be held at the Leadership Seneca County Holiday Gathering on December 11th.  The social is open to current students and past alumni.  The cost is $15 to RSVP contact Deb Martorana at dmartorana@tiffinchamber.com or 419-447-4141.  Reservations are firm and must be paid in advance.
