Ribbon Cutting & Open House: Proving Ground Farm

Ribbon Cutting & Open House: Proving Ground Farm
November 09, 2020

Seneca Conservation District’s Board of Supervisors and staff are inviting the public to the Open House and Ribbon Cutting of Proving Ground Farm, 5892 E TR 138, Republic, OH 44867. The event hosted in conjunction with the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce, will be from 3-5 pm with the Ribbon Cutting at 4:15 pm. In case of rain or bad weather the event will be rescheduled to November 17 at the same time.

Proving Ground Farm is a demonstration and educational place where farmers, homeowners and students are welcome to explore new ways of sustaining and conserving natural resources. It is a place to see and share ideas before adopting them at home or on your farm. Curiously and aggressively improving water, soil and human food health for the future generations of Seneca County is the main goal of Proving Ground Farm.

This new initiative of the Seneca Conservation District will be used by school-aged students during field trips, scientists and researchers during short- and long-term experiments, by home and property owners during workshops and by families during special events. New partners, projects and questions to prove are always being sought by the Board and Staff.

Since 1949, the Seneca Conservation District has cooperated with the Seneca County Commissioners, the State of Ohio and other partners to voluntarily help farms, homes and schools be great stewards of the land and water we all need. We want Seneca County to be a place where good choices make a great place to farm, work, live, play and grow a family! By unveiling this property and demonstrating new and unproven strategies we want to ensure another generation of smart and strong and profitable stewards.

The Open House will be outside, dress for the weather. There will be tours, harvesting demonstrations, light refreshments and updates on what’s new and what’s next for the Proving Ground Farm. If you have any questions please call Mandy at Seneca Conservation District at 419-447-7073 or visit www.conservesenecacounty.com.
