Meet Gary Ehrenfried, the Third Generation Owner of Bair Bros. and Russ Gahris!

Bair Bros. dates back to 1903, when two brothers, Clyde and Roy Bair, opened a pawn shop. Eventually the pawn shop began selling items geared toward hunting and fishing-related sporting goods equipment. Gary’s grandfather, Earl Huffmon, began working for the organization at a young age and in the 1920’s he purchased the business. In the early 1930’s many rural areas began getting electricity and the store started selling electrical work supplies, such as wiring and fixtures. At one time they even sold small appliances.  In the 1950’s, Gary’s father, Richard, began working at the store and that’s when the business got out of selling electrical work supplies and into the sporting goods and awards business. Gary began working at the store in the early 1970’s and had the opportunity to work next to his grandfather and father. For the next 30 plus years working with his brother Brad, and sister Janet the business continued to expand, adding embroidery and screen printing.

A lot has changed since 1903, but one thing hasn’t. Their commitment to their customers and their willingness to provide them the best service possible. Many high school students in our community have fond memories of picking up their letterman jacket from the store. Bair Bros. is a one-stop shop for letterman jackets, where they do all the embroidery and sew the patches with a chain stitch pattern, a technique that they have been using for more than 75 years. The awards have been a good benefit for Bair Bros., but a lot of changes have occurred over the years. The store has kept up with the changes and can virtually create any concept a customer may have through their state-of-the-art laser engraving equipment.  Customers often walk in the door looking for something they can’t find somewhere else; whether that be spirit gear for the local school districts, screen printing, general sporting goods or leveraging Russ’s graphic design skills to bring their idea to life.

Stop by Bair Bros., located at 28 South Washington Street in Downtown Tiffin, to see how Gary and Russ can help you!
