Tiffin Historic Trust Presents Mystery Bourbon Tasting

Tiffin Historic Trust Presents Mystery Bourbon Tasting
October 07, 2021

Grab a cool-weather sweater and join the Tiffin Historic Trust at 3:00 p.m., Sunday October 24 for a Mystery Bourbon Tasting presented by Dave Spridgeon of the Renaissance of Tiffin.  The event takes place outdoors in the beautiful backyard Garden of the Grammes-Brown House at 172 Jefferson St., Tiffin.  In case of rain guests can retreat to the Carriage House. The $40 donation includes the tastings, hors d’oeuvres, and an engraved souvenir whiskey glass from Jeffery Jewelry.  Non-alcoholic beverages will be available.  RSVP to Nevin at 419-618-1001 with name, contact information and guest count.

Dave Spridgeon opened The Renaissance and Barrel 51 in 2017 as a roaring 20s-themed speakeasy in downtown Tiffin.  During the Tiffin Main Street Celebration and Downtown Summit, Spridgeon and The Renaissance were announced as the recipients of the 2021 Heritage Ohio Main Street Business of the Year to be awarded at the Annual Preservation and Revitalization Conference.

While guests learn about bourbons and whiskey from Spridgeon and enjoy a selection of four tastings and light appetizers, jazz enthusiast Doug Collar will play selections of recordings of hot jazz chosen from his vast collection.  For many years Collar hosted and produced jazz programs at WKAR-AM/FM, Michigan State University Public Radio.  Collar has also taught jazz history courses and has given presentations at jazz festivals, museums, and other venues.

This fundraising event will help support the projects of Tiffin’s historic preservation organization.
