Book Discussion: Dreamland: The True Tale of America’s Opiate Epidemic

Thursday, October 25, 2018 - 6:30pm

The Tiffin-Seneca Public Library will host a book discussion on Dreamland: The True Tale of America’s Opiate Epidemic by Sam Quinones on Thursday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Frost Kalnow Room as part of the Foundation Speakers series.

Dreamland is the story of how the unfettered prescribing of pain medications and an influx of black tar heroin led to the opiate epidemic ravaging the United States. The author specifically examines its origins and effects in the state of Ohio. Copies of the book are available at the Library. The eBook is available for instant checkout with no holds from the Ohio Digital Library.

The author of the book, Sam Quinones, will visit Tiffin on Thursday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. at Tiffin University’s Marion Center. An opiate awareness resource fair will take place before the presentation beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Foundation Speakers series brings an outstanding writer, artist, or public figure to inform and engage the community once each year and provides the chance to gain insight and inspiration directly from those helping to shape our culture and our world.  The series is made possible through generous funding by the Tiffin-Seneca Library Foundation and the many donors who have contributed to the Foundation over the years.  Please call 419-447-3751 or log on to www.tiffinsenecalibrary.org for more information.
