Ribbon Cutting Tornado Alley

Ribbon Cutting Tornado Alley
February 16, 2023

Congratulations to the students of Columbian High School's Entrepreneurship class on the reopening of Tornado Alley!

Tiffin Columbian High School is once again home to Tornado Alley, a school store housed in the main hallway. After closing its doors more than ten years ago, this student-ran business has opened a walk-up window for students- providing a rewarding and educational experience for both its customers and student employees. This brick and mortar location will be operated as a co-op, bringing together several different groups into one, unified space.

It will serve as a PBIS Ticket Redemption Center. PBIS is a framework that guides school teams in the selection, integration, and implementation of evidence-based practices for improving academic, social and behavior outcomes for all students. Students acquire PBIS tickets by demonstrating positive behaviors and these tickets can be redeemed for rewards.

Currently the store has school supplies, board games, water bottles, and Columbian gear. Local businesses can also donate gift cards and/or merchandise that will be used as student rewards. The students will continue to oversee its operation, manage the inventory, and maintain store hours daily during lunch. Tornado Alley hopes to extend its hours for after-school functions during sporting events, the spring musical, and more.

We are so happy to see Tornado Alley reopen and are excited to see the opportunities it will provide for students and the community as a whole. This is a huge win for Tiffin City Schools, Columbian High School, and everyone involved!
