Welcome new member, Stein Hospice!

Stein Hospice, an affiliate of Hospice of the Western Reserve, provides palliative and end-of-life care, caregiver support, and bereavement services throughout Northern Ohio, with offices in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Ottawa, Portage, Sandusky, Seneca, Stark, and Summit counties.

Stein Hospice emerged in response to a recognized need for specialized services prioritizing the comfort, emotional well-being, and individualized support of patients facing the end of life. Stein Hospice's inception reflects a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding end-of-life care and a dedication to enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families. The founders envisioned a holistic approach to hospice care centered on empathy, expertise, and a heartfelt mission to ease the journey for those navigating the final stages of life.

In the early 1980s, three local hospital boards agreed to support and fund a new hospice program, but that program needed a name. Sam Stein was a local entrepreneur living in California with his wife, Rose. He learned of the efforts to build a community-based hospice and immediately stepped in with a generous donation. With Sam and Rose's consent, Stein Hospice Service was officially born, and they became lifelong friends and supporters. Marcia Stein Goff and Jerry Stein, the children of Rose and Sam, continue to steward their parent's philanthropic legacy for the benefit of Stein Hospice's five-county service area. In honor of those efforts and the legacy of Sam and Rose, the hospice center was recently renamed "The Sam and Rose Stein Hospice Center." In April 2022, Hospice of the Western Reserve and Stein Hospice joined together as one organization and continue to offer high-quality care and services that the community has come to trust over the years.

In celebration of the individual worth of each life, Stein Hospice strives to relieve suffering, enhance comfort, promote quality of life, foster choice in end-of-life care, and support effective grieving. They have an unwavering commitment to serving individuals in Seneca County. They moved their offices to the center of Tiffin to be more visible, demonstrate their commitment to the community, and better serve the residents in their service area. By establishing a presence in Tiffin, Stein Hospice aims to provide even more efficient and compassionate end-of-life care, ensuring that individuals and families in Seneca County receive the highest quality services when they need it most. The relocation reflects their organization's proactive approach to meeting the community's unique needs, further solidifying Stein Hospice as a trusted and responsive healthcare partner in the region.

Stein Hospice's Tiffin office is located at 96 S Washington St, Suite B1. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and visit their website at steinhospice.org to learn more.
