For the first time in history, Americans are spending considerably more money at restaurants than they do on groceries. Reports from the Bureau of Labor Statistics calculated the average American household spent $2,787 dining out and $3,971 in groceries in 2014. By 2015, the restaurant bill increased to $3,008. The spending on groceries only increased by $44, bringing the average to $4,015. This trend signifies the new attitude around eating out: it is no longer a luxury.
The average American cannot afford such a costly habit just because it seems more conducive to their schedule!
