Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 6:30pm

Address:
Tiffin-Seneca Public Library
77 Jefferson St
Tiffin, OH 44883

The latest program in the “John Quinn Lecture Series,” a joint collaboration between the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library and the Heidelberg University English Department, will discuss Tiffin native John Quinn’s extensive art collection on Wednesday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.

In the early years of the twentieth century, John Quinn championed, financially supported, and collected the work of modernist writers and artists. As Quinn gained confidence as an art collector, he amassed an unparalleled collection including significant works by Constantin Brancusi, Pablo Picasso, Henri Rousseau, among others.

The guest speaker for this event will be Virginia “Ginny” Reynolds Badgett, Ph.D., the Assistant Curator of Special Collections at the Boston Athenæum, one of the most distinguished independent libraries and cultural institutions in the United States. In her lecture, Dr. Virginia Reynolds Badgett will analyze Quinn as a patron of the European and American avant-garde by focusing on key purchases and Quinn’s influence on the canonization of modernism.

Heidelberg University’s Dr. Barry Devine will serve as the host for this event. Dr. Devine is a specialist in the works of James Joyce and Irish modernism and is a contributor to the new The Cambridge Centenary Ulysses, a 100th anniversary edition of Joyce’s novel.

Registration is required by visiting https://bit.ly/QuinnRegistration. This event will be recorded. Recordings of past events in the John Quinn Lecture Series can be found at t.ly/yDSu. For more information, please visit www.tiffinsenecalibrary.org or call 419-447-3751.
