Exploring the Possibilities of Starting, Buying, or Expanding a Business? Discover what it takes by charting your course with  Small Business Basics Ohio Small Business Development Center.  Small Business Basics is a free, two-hour seminar that will answer your questions about starting, buying, or expanding a small business. This seminar will take the confusion out of your efforts, and help you to avoid costly mistakes and unnecessary steps. Learn the basics of name registration, licensing, taxes, advisors, business entities, employees, insurance, financing business planning, and more!

Leadership Seneca County

Leadership Seneca County is a learning experience designed to help develop community awareness, improved decision making and team building. Through participation in program activities, participants will be exposed to experiences which will help them to become valuable assets to their respective areas of expertise. Problem solving, collaboration, and improved awareness of county issues will strengthen their respective backgrounds.

Member News Blast

The Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Services is offering a new Business Benefit to its members.  Once a month, one member will be permitted to send out a news blast.  The cost for this news blast is $100.  This service is a first come, first serve basis.  If you are interested sending your own news blast, please contact Deb.  The business is responsible for providing all content and submitting it by the end of the month prior to the month that the message is sent.

Group Health, Life and Disability Insurance

Group Health Insurance – Chamber Saver Program

Full range of health insurance plans with cost savings usually reserved for larger companies. Businesses also get access to a large network of quality providers through Anthem, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. Group Health Insurance – SOCA Benefit Plan (MEWA) 

Chambers of Commerce throughout Ohio have banded together to offer a new self-funded medical plan for small employers. The Northern Ohio Area Chambers of Commerce (NOACC), Central Ohio Chambers of Commerce, Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance (SOCA), Dayton Area Chamber, and the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber have collaborated to create a new health program that can lead to more rate stability and is a smart solution that offers potential savings for groups with 50 or fewer employees.  Business must be a NOACC Chamber Member.    Click here for information on the SOCA Benefit Plan for small employers.

Sole proprietors can join the SOCA Benefit Plan

Anthem, NOACC and SOCA are very pleased to announce that the SOCA Benefit Plan MEWA is making room for sole proprietors. They can enroll in the plan starting July 1. The broker community has already received instructions from Anthem regarding new case submission. Quoting starts April 20. This is limited to sole proprietors. Presently this offer is not intended for non-profit organizations with one employee.

An eligible sole proprietor must:

  • Meet underwriting requirements.
  • Work more than 30 hours per week (documentation required).
  • Submit a cover page for Form 1040 with Schedule C or Form 1040 with Schedules F and SE.
